Time and Value

Learning to drive takes time, effort and of course money. So don’t expect to become a safe driver and pass your test after a handful of lessons and a few hours of practice with a friend or relative. The national average pupil will require 45 hours of professional tuition plus a further 22 hours of private practice. Driving lessons with a professional can save you both time and money but remember it’s a life skill and costs less than the price of a Cappuccino once every six weeks and is far cheaper than dealing with the consequences of bad driving!

Mini School of Motoring offer Student and block booking discounts.
Recommended driving lesson is 2 hours however individual needs catered for.

Fit to Drive

Make sure you get your eyesight checked and ensure that you’re both physically and mentally prepared for the challenge of becoming a safe driver. Being a safe driver and having driving lessons will demand a high degree of alertness, concentration and the development of a safety conscious mindset which we teach as defensive driving techniques. Many people can be affected by illness or simply be too tired to have a driving lesson. Even common medicines such as hay fever remedies can affect your ability to drive so if you’re taking any medication or not feeling too well stay off the road and postpone your driving lesson.

Preparing for your Test

We will help you prepare for both parts of your driving test, both theory and the practical. The theory test is split into two elements.  First you have a multiple choice exam which takes about 40 mins followed by a short break and then a video clip based hazard perception test which can take up to 30 mins. Pass marks in both elements must be achieved prior to booking and taking the practical test which lasts about 40 mins with an examiner. We strongly advise our students to study the theory part as you have your driving lessons, as each part complements the other and helps further understanding.

Mini School of Motoring also uses Mock Tests and target test dates to help plan for your success while keeping driving lesson costs to a minimum.
